About ACIR

The Association of Chiefs of Interventional Radiology (ACIR) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of the art and science of interventional radiology through:

  • the promotion of medical education
  • research and patient care
  • the development of methods of undergraduate and graduate teaching in Interventional Radiology.
  • a forum for discussion among interventional radiology chiefs

The membership of the ACIR shall consist of current, past, or aspiring division leaders of Interventional Radiology in Academic or Private Practice in the United States and Canada. They are active members of SIR who have a special interest in contributing toward the objectives of the section.

What ACIR offers

  • Annual meeting for current and aspiring IR leaders in both academic and private practices.
  • Education on all aspects of how to run an IR section or division, including administration, politics, and educational and clinical issues.
  • SIR Connect community for sharing ideas, trends and challenges unique to IR chiefs.
  • Mechanisms for gathering data to help IR chiefs benchmark their practice against others.
  • A venue to develop the skills and knowledge of junior chiefs so that they can participate in leadership positions within their institutions and SIR.

ACIR Fall meeting
Each year, ACIR offers a one-day meeting that provides a forum for IR chiefs and leaders to discuss challenges and solutions unique to their position. The meeting includes presentations and discussions in the areas of finance, quality and standard operating procedures (SOPs), teaching and research, and human resources.
